As a Strategic Operations Manager, you will work with Zing’s founding team to optimize all aspects of our operations and to launch services in new markets. Working closely with the Product, Marketing, and Executive teams, you will write the playbook for launching and growing successful Zing services and for adapting our fleet to new use cases. You will also supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring that we deliver exceptional service to our customers no matter what operational challenges may arise. More importantly, you’ll be joining an early-stage, high-growth startup -- led by co-founders who have founded and led multiple successful businesses -- and will play a critical role in scaling a consumer technology startup into an entirely new mode of commerce.
Responsibilities
Own the P&L, setting ambitious targets and delivering results.
Contribute to strategic decision-making for projects relating to service operations and expansions, vehicle design, customer experience, and other business growth initiatives.
Develop standard operating procedures for daily operation of vehicles, commissary, and modular Zing stores, ensuring that these SOPs can support a rapid scale-up to hundreds of vehicles.
Be an expert in all things Zing, able to explain the business to a variety of external audiences (customers, local partners, investors) and able to support any team when needed.
Manage project teams to ensure strategies are successfully translated into tactics and success can be measured with data.
Determine, track, and analyze KPIs to understand what works, what doesn’t, and what can be improved.
Work with the Product Team to assess the digital product, digest user feedback, and contribute to the development roadmap.
Work with the Marketing and Creative Team to develop and manage analytics for lead generation, conversion, repeat use, and overall growth.
Qualifications
2+ years experience in an Operations role at a consumer-facing tech company or similarly growth-oriented environment.
MBA or other relevant grad degree preferred.
A leader and a person of action -- you can create the “big-picture” and roll up your sleeves to get things done.
Data driven decision-maker who can break down complex problems, take ownership, and drive results.
Experience in data analysis and comfort working with large datasets in Excel, Tableau, and other analytics tools.
Clear and direct communicator with the ability to find the right tone with any audience.
Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills: you know how to keep a well-prioritized list and communicate priorities to all stakeholders.
Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility in a fast-paced environment.
About Zing
Zing is reinventing the suburbs by bringing the convenience of city living to suburban neighborhoods. Our smart, modular, connected Zing-mobiles can be outfitted to create any retail or service experience, from mobile cafes to book fairs to costume shops and beyond. Our ever-improving algorithms route these vehicles to nodes of demand, providing pop-up service exactly where and when it’s needed. Whatever you’d expect on your block in the city, we’re parking on your corner in the ‘burbs. The Zing experience is designed to delight our customers because we understand that retail and service experiences aren’t just transactional, they’re an opportunity to connect with your community and to enjoy a few minutes’ break from the daily hustle. In offering an alternative to driving to the mall or ordering everything online, we’re not only creating an entirely new mode of suburban commerce, we’re bringing a bit of everyday magic to the suburbs.
Our first Zing-mobiles are on the streets of Bergen County, NJ, offering a boutique coffee shop experience. Follow us on Instagram (@zingtheday) and LinkedIn (Zing!) for updates on Zing in action!
