As the data and algorithms lead, you will own every aspect of Zing’s data, algorithms and analytics. We are looking for an experienced, independent, and out-of-the-box thinker to join us and build Zing’s algorithmic backbone from the ground up. As we grow, you will work with the founding team to solve the complex problem of how to conquer suburban commerce by utilizing cutting edge algorithms to drive operational efficiency, growth, and produce a first-in-class product. At Zing, we try to infuse each customer experience with a bit of magic; we also know that there’s no magic if we haven’t gotten the basics of our technology design exactly right. While scaling Zing’s existing tech from one to many locations, from a few vehicle prototypes to a fleet of hundreds of smart, modular, and connected Zing-mobiles, you will work alongside our entire tech, product and operations organizations to be as obsessed with technological excellence as the founding team. You will be joining a high-growth, venture-backed startup — led by co-founders who have founded and led multiple successful businesses — and will play a critical role in scaling our business into an entirely new mode of commerce!
Responsibilities
Own, manage and grow all aspects of Zing’s data and algorithms.
Build Zing’s Data/Algorithms Team with world-class talent who can manage everything from analytics, on-demand planning, demand prediction.
Set medium and long-term data strategies while understanding exactly how we will have to build our data infrastructure and algorithms to meet our ambitious goals.
Initiate, experiment and iterate on different tactics through which our algorithm can support business growth.
Proactively build your team, recruiting and on-boarding.
Be a hands-on member of your team - designing, coding, and delivering features to production.
Work closely with the engineering, operations and product teams to ensure we’re providing a best-in-class product to our customers.
Qualifications
B.Sc. / M.Sc. in an engineering field, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant field.
4+ years of professional experience as an algorithm developer / data scientist.
Deep analytics experience - you live and breathe data.
Fast learner and fast execution - you can quickly master concepts, disciplines and methods and bring them to life.
Flexible team player with great communication skills.
Pragmatic - when you hear about a difficult problem you are able to simplify it so that you can easily solve it.
Concise - you get stuff done, in a simple, elegant way.
Obsessive about the customer experience and always looking for ways to improve it.
Experience leading a team - advantage.
